Vietnam, known for its stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and rich history, is now easier than ever to visit thanks to the expanded e-Visa program. Since August 2023, citizens of all countries can apply for a Vietnam e-Visa online.
What is Vietnam e-Visa?
The Vietnam e-Visa is an electronic travel authorization introduced to simplify the entry process for foreign visitors. Following Resolution No. 127, the e-Visa became available to citizens of all countries from August 15, 2023. Key features include:
- Maximum stay of 90 days per visit
- Single-entry or multiple-entry options
- Available for tourism, business, family visits, and short-term education
- Completely online application — no embassy visit required
Vietnam e-Visa fees
- **Single-entry e-Visa: **25 USD
- **Multiple-entry e-Visa: **50 USD
- Fees are non-refundable, even if the application is denied
Vietnam e-Visa requirements
To apply for a Vietnam e-Visa, you need:
- A passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay
- Digital scan of your passport information page (JPG format)
- Passport-style photo with white background, front-facing, both ears visible, no headwear or glasses
- Valid email address
- Credit or debit card for payment
- Travel details: flight information, accommodation address, planned entry port
- At least 1 blank visa page in your passport
How to apply for Vietnam e-Visa
Follow these steps to apply for your Vietnam e-Visa:
- **Start your application: **Fill out the online application form with your personal and passport details
- **Pay the fee: **Complete payment using credit or debit card
- **Upload documents: **Submit your passport scan and photo in JPG format
- **Select entry details: **Choose your entry port, visa type (single or multiple entry), and travel dates
- **Wait for processing: **Processing takes 3–5 business days
- **Print your e-Visa: **Download and print at least 2 copies on A4 paper to present at border control
Vietnam entry ports
As of December 2025, Vietnam expanded its e-Visa entry points from 42 to 83, including 13 international airports, 16+ land border crossings, and 13+ seaports. Important: You must enter through the port selected in your application — it cannot be changed after submission.
Important things to know
- Vietnam e-Visa cannot be extended — you must exit and re-apply
- Print at least 2 copies of your e-Visa on A4 paper
- No additional fees at the airport (unlike Visa on Arrival)
- Even small errors in your application can lead to entry denial at the border
- Application results are not sent by email — check the portal directly
- Apply at least 10 days before your travel date
